“Think globally, act locally”  You’ve probably seen this slogan most frequently on bumper stickers.  While Avout doesn’t necessarily think you should be swayed by a bumper sticker, we think this one is an exception.  The think globally, act locally slogan advocates that you consider the health of the entire planet and take action in your local community.

Avout is a strong believer in doing things to help our planet, starting with our local communities.  As a result, Avout is thinking globally and acting locally.

As a 1% for the Planet company; www.onepercentfortheplanet.org, Avout has committed 1% of our gross revenue to help the planet.  We donated 1% of our 2011 gross revenue to the Colorado Mountain Club; www.cmc.org.  The Colorado Mountain Club’s mission is to “to gather and disseminate information regarding the Colorado mountains in the areas of art, science, literature and recreation; to furnish facilities for the enjoyment and study of the mountains by the Club members and the public; and to advocate for the preservation of the alpine regions.”  We think the mountains – their environs, animals, vistas, and recreational opportunities are pretty important to our planet and the Colorado Mountain Club has been working hard for 100 years to protect and promote the mountains.

In 2012, Avout will commit a large portion of our 1% gross revenue donation to Bicycles for Humanity; www.bicycles-for-humanity.org.    Bicycles for Humanity’s focus is on “helping the people of Africa gain access to mobility and a better life for all in their communities.  To millions in Africa who walk for water, medical help or go to school, a bicycle is empowering and the first mode of transportation on their journey from poverty to a better life.  One bicycle can change a Life, one Life can change a Community.”
